Understanding funding

Your Budget Explained

What your approved budget actually pays for, and what 'income-tested contribution' really means in plain English.

1

Your budget is money in your package

Think of it as money in your package for approved services — not a lump sum paid to you directly. It's drawn down as services are delivered.

Not sure this applies to you? Call us — we'll explain it in plain English, no obligation.
2

Some services are fully covered

Clinical supports — nursing, wound care, medication management — carry no participant contribution. The government pays the full cost.

3

Some services may involve a contribution

Everyday living services (like domestic help) and independence services may involve an income-tested contribution, depending on your personal financial situation as assessed by Services Australia.

Jargon buster

Income-tested contribution
An amount some people contribute toward everyday living and independence services, based on their income — assessed by Services Australia, not by Silvergrace.
Clinical supports
Nursing and other medical-style care — always fully funded, no personal contribution required.
Package funds
The running total of your budget as services are used, shown on your monthly statement.

Common questions

Will I know my contribution amount in advance?+

Yes — Services Australia assesses this and confirms it in writing before your contribution rate applies. We'll always show it clearly on your statement.

Can unused budget roll over?+

Rules on unused funds can change — ask us for the current settings when we prepare your personalised quote.

Still have questions? We're happy to talk it through.
